26 March 2020 at midnight we entered the hard lockdown to try and curb the spread of the Corona virus commonly known as Covid – 19 a decision that was inevitable but due to the extended lock down period caused catastrophic damage to our Economy.
To bring it closer to home in my opinion was even more devastating for the West Coast Economy taking into consideration what we have been through prior to the lockdown taking into consideration firstly the drought that came with water restrictions, The Mittal Plant Closure, Load Shedding etc
Majority of businesses have now re-opened however reopening was not the true challenge but trying to catch up the lost revenue, generating cash flow, frantically applying for assistance as offered by National Government or any other body that could possibly assist.

The Chamber has been in positive engagements with both the SBIDZ as well as the Saldanha Bay Municipality regarding prospects of development and revitalizing our own local Economy.
