Survey: New Electoral Model for South Africa – your input needed

by | 11 Feb 2021 | News around the Web

In June 2020, the Constitutional Court declared the current Electoral Act unconstitutional, in that it provided exclusively for political parties to participate in national and provincial elections.

The court held that the act ought to provide for independent candidates to be able to participate in such elections. The court gave parliament 24 month to remedy the act.

The Inclusive Society Institute convened an expert panel to consider options as
to what electoral model should be implemented in South Africa in light of the
Constitutional Court judgement. This survey is being conducted to assess the
broader communities opinion as to their views on the matter.
