Western Cape now has its own Covid-19 platform
You can now stay up to date with the latest coronavirus cases with the release of this new COVID-19 dashboard which Western Cape Premier Alan Winde says is aimed at ensuring that the public is informed in real-time.
It features real-time statistical data including the number of tests conducted, the number of positive cases and other important information.
So far, he had been posting daily updates on the latest Covid-19 cases in the province on social media but broke the news to his followers on social media yesterday.
Winde says that “the numbers are going to go up” and that the main priorities are to ensure that the situation doesn’t get out of control and to slow the rate of infection.
“We all have a responsibility of making sure we [stop] the curve growing as slowly as possible.”
The detailed statistics dashboard will be updated at daily at 1 PM with the latest Covid-19 cases in the province using data from both public and private medical institutions. It also includes a link to an online COVID-19 self-assessment available to the public.
The premier cautioned the public to not “go crazy” once the lockdown is downgraded to level 4 and reminded everyone to always wear a mask and practice social distancing when leaving home,
Winde ended with some good news for many South Africans saying that they were working on making the dashboard free to access.
“We are in the process of having the website zero-rated so that it can be accessed by any person without using data.”
